After 27 years as a Group Admin Manager at Mr. Price group, Lynette Smale Francis decided to follow her passion, which is children. She called a meeting with all creche owners, stake holders and DSD in the area back in 2015 with the idea to get all of the creches to come on board and work together as a forum. Newlands ECD Forum was formed on 17th December 2015.
The NPO Registration came through in August 2017 which has 17 creche’s sharing in the forum. Much has been accomplished thus far, but in education there is a continued need for improvement in all areas.
Our Mission is to be committed to quality education, by maintaining high standards in developing each child holistically in a safe and caring environment. Forum meetings are held every 2nd month to discuss ways in which we can improve services at our school, and thus make it more conducive to learning.
The introduction of an Executive management committee was formed which consists of principals
certainly proved to be of benefit to the running of the forum and taking it forward to the next level.
The involvement of the principal and teachers has proved that they have embraced the Forum and the vision we have adopted. It is encouraging to see that every meeting we have held was exceptionally well attended. We also work closely and guided by DSD.
We have opened many doors for Newlands ECD and we are now being noticed after many years. We have knocked and doors have opened.

- Bridge ECD Meetings
- Fund raising events
- The 3rd Annual Inter school sports will be held on the 8th June 2018
- Mandela Day – Revamped the The Glen Earl Clinic
- Health and Welfare Day – our children’s immunisations are kept up to date. Teachers have their pressure and sugar done and counselling is done if needed.
- Assitej company had a clown show and face painting for our children…they were utterly amazed.
- Team building sessions are held to keep us teachers and principals motivated and rejuvenated.
- Motivational speakers are invited to impact and motivate us.
- Year end concerts are held for fund raising purposes.
We are continually looking for sponsors for the forum. We are in need of equipment bikes toys food stationery toiletries etc. Any help is appreciated.
